Fallout 3 Facts

It’s a good time to be a Fallout time, well maybe not good, as a lot of things are still uncertain, but it’s certainly an exciting time. For Bethesda, the makers of Morrowind/Oblivion and now Fallout 3, are spilling info and releasing goodies all over the place.

But what really caught my eye recently, is Kotaku’s Fallout 3 facts article. A lot of interesting things here, while most of them sound really good and exciting, there are some that I don’t really think are so nice. Namely the short gameplay time (estimated at only 40 hours including all the sidequests), and the second thing that really annoys me is the fact that there will be no vehicles in the game.

For crying out loud, even Oblivion had “vehicles” (horses), I can’t really imagine how one would travel a barren world if not by some run down buggy/car ala Mad Max style.

Fallout 3 Previews

Excellent news today. Two sites have posted some really exciting news regarding Fallout 3. First one is Shacknews, where quite an extensive preview was posted, which includes many things that make me glad that Bethesda picked up Fallout and not some other company.

The other site is Destructoid which I have been visiting more and more lately. They have posted a preview as well, not as long and extensive as Shacknews, but with some really cool new pictures from Fallout 3, including the above one. Be sure to check out both if you are a Fallout fan, or even just an RPG fan.

Contra 4 for the Nintendo DS

Holy cow, that’s one game franchise that I would have never thought that it would be resurrected. But it has happened, and I’m really happy that it’s for the Nintendo DS. Makes perfect sense really, considering that Contra is a side-scroller that relies more on the gameplay (or rather on being unbeatably hard game) than on the graphics.

And even then I must say that the graphics really look great. Sure it’s not 3D, doesn’t have the polygons and special effects that the DS can handle quite well, but it still looks great. Really colourful and lush backgrounds, and if the animation is good as well, then I’m really looking forward to buying this game.

Who am I really kidding, even if it ends up being a crap game I’ll buy it anyway, only so that I could play some more Contra, and probably die (and get angry) many times in the process.

Grand Theft Auto IV - Second Trailer

Good news today. Something noteworthy happened. And that would be that Rockstar released the second (out of the three planned) trailer of Grand Theft Auto IV. Some interesting new things in this trailer. New effects, as well as the ability to hold on to the back of vehicles, and even helicopters, though that might be a pre-scripted thing.

You can watch the intro at the official site and at Yahoo Games as well. Got to love the guy’s humour sense as well. “We are all looking for that special someone.” Oh and if anyone is interested, the song that’s used in the trailer is “Arm In Arm (Shy Child Remix)” by The Boggs.
