Religious People Are Nucking Futs
Or maybe it’s just their leaders. Usually I try to stay away from anything that might sound even the tiniest bit like a religion debate, but this one really takes the cake. Roger Smith Hotel the location where an art exhibit was to take place, featuring a 200 pound milk chocolate sculpture of Jesus Christ, have cancelled the said exhibit.
Their reasoning? “In this situation, the hotel couldn’t continue to be supportive because of a fear for their own safety.” What the hell is this, are we back into the Dark Ages, are we going to burn some witches? But that isn’t all, I have another great quote. This one is from Bill Donohue, head of the watchdog Catholic League. “One of the worst assaults on Christian sensibilities ever.”
I’m not even sure if we are both looking at the same thing here. How can something like this be one of the worst assaults on Christian sensibilities? Are these people permanently drugged up? It’s an art exhibit, it’s supposed to provoke you to think. Calling this a crime of highest magnitude against the Christians just because the statue is made out of an unconventional material is really taking things too far. It shames me that I must share this planet with such lunatics.

I saw this too last night
Muchly upsetting. They were upset about him being naked, as opposed to the fact he’s crucified nearly naked in agony in all standard religious representations, the loss of a bit of cloth in the name of art doesn’t seem entirely a huge new leap.
But yay, you can see where they’ve seen a new ability to justify their neuroses, the more the Christian right wing learns about the extremist Muslims the more they realise they can get away with.
A quote from the BBC site which sums up the get out of jail free card they seem to think they now have:
“They would never dare do something similar with a chocolate statue of the Prophet Mohammed naked with his genitals exposed during Ramadan.”
