New Stargate Worlds Screenshots

Wahey! They just recently released a new batch of screenshots for the upcoming MMORPG, Stargate Worlds. What’s really amazing about it, other than being set in the Stargate universe, is the game engine that they use.

Stargate Worlds

The game engine that powers Stargate Worlds, is no other than Unreal 3 engine. Just wow! I thought Unreal 3 was supposed to push the hardware envelope in single player, but now they are making a massive multi player online roleplaying game with it.

I have uploaded all the new screenshots that were posted on IGN to my gallery. Don’t mind the saliva that’s all over those screenshots, that was me.

It does look quite nice. Tempted to get it when it comes back, I mean rather then get a game with countless patches… like the others.

Anyway for general information in case you are interested, I think its said that there will be four factions with two sides each. Namely; Goa’uld/Tok’ra, Tau’ri/Other Human, Free Jaffa/Jaffa Loyalist and Asgard Officer/Asgard Renegade. Or so I hear….

I’m slightly concerned by it, I do wonder if it’s just a publicity stunt now, and the fact they use such a hard engine means they either will be releasing it ages away, or the engine will go “EURKNMOMGDIE!” every time you take a step…

I hope the “Worlds” are more than the size of a village.

Well, Unreal 3 is very hardware demanding, so it is quite a way away, I don’t expect it to come out for another year. And by then most people should have PCs that can run Unreal 3 at least on mid-low settings.

True, but can the engine take the intake of that many models etc? It wasn’t built for being an MMO surely. and I wont be upgrading in a year =P

Well if you look at the rumoured UT2007(which uses Unreal 3 Engine) requirements then you will see that you will most likely need to upgrade, plus possibly get Vista to play this on medium to high settings.

    UnrealTournament 2007 high details requirements:
    3-4GHz(preferably Dual(quad even?)-core Processor) + 64bit CPU support as well.
    1GB RAM
Nvidia 6800GT-Ultra SLI or 7800GT-GTX SLI, so most likely at least mid to top range 8xxx series card if you are not going SLI.
And of course it supports Ageias PhysX Processor, but not a whole lot of people have it.

Does look nice, but really unsure of MMORPGs. And I dunno I’m spoiled by new games, I always hope to see MMORPG’s looking realllyyyyyy great, and this is very nice, but I guess they always have to be watered down visually.

Well yeah, massive implies there are lots of people, and for that to happen you have to lower certain things to make it technically possible/viable.
