Rihards Unplugged

The official Rihards Online blog

Archive for November, 2006

Firefox 74.6%, while IE only 13.5%

Here it is, the monthly statistics report. At the end of each month I plan to post a special monthly post where I outline and post some pictures of statistics that have been generated by AwStats for this blog. So that you, the readers, could see how the blog is progressing and if it’s growing. It has however only been 18 days since the blog was started so this first report won’t be exactly a full month report, but I think it’s a very interesting one anyway.

AwStats Summary

We’ll start off with the Summary bit that shows the number of visits and unique hits among other things. And I must say it’s more than I expected that it will be. Almost 200 unique visitors in the first 18 days, and that with virtually no marketing or advertising. 3,280 page views as well, which is very nice. So I’d like to thank all the people who have been visiting my blog and reading my entries, and especially those that have been posting comments.

AwStats Top Countries

Next up we have the top countries, I cropped the top 5 because all the other countries under it have less than 100 page views. But there are some really cool countries from which people have visited this blog. Countries like, Saudi Arabia(reminds me of Stan of Arabia, an American Dad episode), Finland(not too many people who are as cool as them), Iran(will refrain from making a sarcastic comment here), Ireland(because they just rock). What is really odd though is how low Germany ranks, with just one page view. But then again, this is after all an English blog, with quite a few Austrian visitors.

AwStats Top Browsers

And now, my favourite bit, the top web browsers. I was quite surprised at this one actually. I knew that I would get at least around 40% Firefox, but I never expected it to be quite this high, double of what I estimated anyway. It’s nice to see Safari up there as well, and Opera. Still quite surprised about the 74.5% though.

Theme Updates

As you may notice, something is different about the theme. And you are right, it’s a little different, I made the sidebar a little thinner and the content area a little wider. Just for you people, so that I could fit more content on this lovely blog.

I have however been considering adding AdSense ads to the blog, haven’t decided on thaz yet though. The idea behind them would be just like in rov8’s case, where they are there to make the site(s) self sustainable so that I wouldn’t have to pay as much(if at all) for hosting. What are your thoughts on this? They won’t get in the way with the content of course, and will be styled so that they don’t kick you in the balls either.

In other news I have seriously been considering playing Eve Online again, but that’s a topic for another day.

New Stargate Worlds Screenshots

Wahey! They just recently released a new batch of screenshots for the upcoming MMORPG, Stargate Worlds. What’s really amazing about it, other than being set in the Stargate universe, is the game engine that they use.

Stargate Worlds

The game engine that powers Stargate Worlds, is no other than Unreal 3 engine. Just wow! I thought Unreal 3 was supposed to push the hardware envelope in single player, but now they are making a massive multi player online roleplaying game with it.

I have uploaded all the new screenshots that were posted on IGN to my gallery. Don’t mind the saliva that’s all over those screenshots, that was me.

Cosmos! Argh…!

So I wanted to go shopping today as well and pick up something to play, or at least something to watch. However due to time constraints I wasn’t able to go to the usual shop where I go to, “Saturn”, I had to go to a shop called “Cosmos”. Supposedly it’s just as good as the other entertainment tech shops in Austria.

Cosmos

So I walk in and look around for things I’d like, Rise of Legends, Call of Duty, Knights of the Old Republic, or any new cool DVDs that have come out. But all wasted time. Argh!

Either I have already seen the DVDs that they had or I wouldn’t watch them even if they were given to me for free, and most of them fall into that last category. As for games, the story is even worse there, most games are still at their full price of 49,99 EUR even after months of their release.

So much for me ever spending money in a Cosmos again, might as well just skip it all together and go home if I’m running short of time and can’t go to “Saturn” to pick up the things I need or want.
